Cornette Fellowship Winners Announced (12/8/07 kmw)
Chris Tuggle, chair of the BCB program, has announced the winners of the 2008 Cornette Bioinformatics Fellowship competion:
Michael Terribilini (Fellowship)
Matthew Moscou (Fellowship)
Long Qu (Honorable Mention)
The Cornette Fellowships will provide stipend, tuition, fees and fringe benefits for Spring Semester 2008. The Cornette Honorable Mention award provides the same benefits as the Fellowships, but at half the funding.

BCB/MGET Thesis Seminar December 11 (12/4/07 kmw)
BCB PhD candidate Michael Lawrence (MGET Fellow, Statistics Department; major professors Dianne Cook and Eve Wurtele) will present his thesis seminar, Interactive graphics, graphical user interfaces and software interfaces for the analysis of biological experimental data and networks, at 9am Thursday, December 4, in 1102 Molecular Biology. Everyone is invited to attend.
December 6 Baker Seminar Features Dr. Stephen Harvey (12/4/07 kmw)
Dr. Stephen Harvey Professor and Eminent Scholar of Biology, Georgia Institute of Technology, will present The packaging of viral genomes: structures, forces and thermodynamics at 2:10pm Thursday, December 6, in the Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium in Howe Hall. Dr. Harvey's presentation is part of the 2007-2008 Baker Center Seminar series. All are invited to attend.

The Baker Center has announced the winners of the 2008 Pioneer Graduate Fellowships for BCB Students:

Jeffry Sander, GDCB Department, major professors Drena Dobbs and Dan Voytas
Xiujuan Wang, GDCB Department, major professors Dennis Lavrov and Xun Gu
Congratulations, students! These Pioneer Fellowships will provide assistantships of $21,750 each for one year, beginning January 1, 2008.
