BCB STUDENT SEMINARS (1-26-04)
The Spring 2004 BCB Student Seminar series (BCB 690 Student Seminar in Computational Biology) is being held from 1:10 to 2 pm on Fridays in 270 Town Engineering. Last week's series openers were presented by Scott Emrich (Aluru/Schnable), Raul Piaggio (Eulenstein/Dobbs) and Changhui Yan (Honavar/Dobbs). Presenters this week will be Feng Cui (Wu/Jernigan), Jae-Hyung Lee (Dobbs/Ho), and Myron Peto (Eulenstein/Dobbs). All seminars are open to the public.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT (1-22-04)
Congratulations to Haining Lin (BCB, Huang and Voytas) and David Huang on the birth of their son Ryan at 5:25 pm on January 15. Ryan, who weighed in at 7 pounds 10.5 ounces, joins big sister Amy, now 2 and a half, in keeping things hopping at Haining's house. Our best wishes to your whole family, Haining!

SPRING 2004 COURSE REGISTRATION CHECK (1-07-04)
Don't forget: BCB students are expected to register for a 12-credit courseload for Fall and Spring semesters. Please check your Spring schedule of classes and, if you currently are registered for fewer than 12 hours, please add research credit hours to bring your total to 12. You can update your registration on Access+ until the end of the first week of classes.

NO FIRST THURSDAY EVENT IN JANUARY (12-17-03)
Because January's first Thursday falls on New Year's Day, which is a University holiday, the monthly BCB-IGERT-MGET First Thursday supper and social will not be held in January.
