Baker Seminar July 25 (7/18/07 kmw)
The Baker Center will host a seminar presented by Dr. Nickolai Alexandrov of Ceres Inc on Wednesday, July 25. Dr. Alexandrov's seminar, Transcriptional landscape of corn genome, will begin at 1:10pm in Gilman 1652. Everyone is welcome.
Dr. Alexandrov also will be available to meet with interested students and faculty on July 25. If you would like to arrange a meeting, please contact Mary Jane McCunn at the Baker Center.
This seminar is presented as part of the Baker Center's Computational and Systems Biology Summer Institute.
BCB Lab Meeting on July 17 (7/17/07 kmw)
Be sure to attend the BCB Lab meeting to be held 5:15-6:15 pm Tuesday, July 17, in 2034 MBB. A light supper will be provided.

Graduate College Closed over the Lunch Hour this Week (7/16/07 kmw)

Iowa Economic Development Funds Awarded (7/11/07 kmw/ts)
Congratulations to BCB Faculty member, Chris Minion, member of a team recently awarded $150,444 for research promoting Iowa economic development. The funded project, led by Michael Wannemuehler, will seek to develop a vaccine against pneumonic plague. Read all about it here.

BCB/MGET Thesis Seminar (7/9/07 kmw)
BCB PhD candidate and MGET trainee Myron Peto (BBMB Department; major professors Robert Jernigan and Drena Dobbs) will present his thesis seminar, Studies of protein designability using reduced models, at 2pm Monday, July 9, in 115 Office and Lab. The ISU bioinformatics and computational molecular biology community is invited to attend.

Our July First Thursday will be held at 5pm on July 5 in 1102 Molecular Biology. Trish is planning a potluck for this event, so please let her know whether you will be able to attend, and what dish you plan to bring to share. Beverages will be provided. We hope to see you there!
