PhRMA Informatics Fellowships and Grants Announced (6-21-05 kmw)
The PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) Foundation has announced 2006 opportunities for post doctoral fellowships, sabbatical fellowships and research starter grants in informatics. Areas include genetics, genomics, systems biology and molecular epidemiology. Application deadline is September 1, 2005. ISU's BCB Summer Institute, June 5 - August 6, 2005 (6-1-05 ts)
One of nine, in the nation, summer research opportunities in the BCB area begins at ISU on June 5. The BCB Summer Institute will provide participants with a number of educational opportunities in the BCB research area. Dr. Volker Brendel who is coordinating the coursework and summer training program for the institute said there are still spaces left in the classroom short course modules. The tuition is $500 per module or $2500 for the entire Short Course. Academic people will get a 50% discount.

Joint Bioinformatics Conference with U of I (6-7-05 ts)
Mark your calendars for the upcoming July 19 Joint Bioinformatics Conference with the University of Iowa. There is a $100 prize for the Best Student Poster. Abstracts and Poster titles are due no later than July 8, 2005. To submit an abstract, fill out the registration form. Email Erin Brothers with questions.

Bellinda Hegelheimer--To Leave BCB (5-29-05 ts)
Our administrative assistant for BCB has decided to move on to another position on campus and will be leaving BCB on May 31. We wish her well in her new position with VRAC where she will assist with editing and administrative responsibilities. BCB and MGET/IGERT students are invited to Trish Stauble's home at 1319 Top-O-Hollow on Thursday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m. to wish her the best !! This will be our First Thursday gathering for June.
