Alumni Updates (5-5-05; 5-24-05 kmw) Sid Baccam (IGERT, PhD Math and VMPM S2000, Cornette/Carpenter) has been employed as senior scientist at Innovative Emergency Management, Inc, in Maryland since October 2003. He says: "I've been involved in projects with the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services. These projects involve modeling biological attacks and evaluating the effectiveness of potential medical intervention policies. DHHS is using our results to justify their acquistion of drugs and vaccines for the Strategic National Stockpile. It is very rewarding to be doing work to help the country be better prepared for bioterrorism." Nice going, Sid. We're proud of you! Aspen Garry (IGERT, MS EEB F2003, Naylor/Adams), who is working at the University of Colorado, Boulder, is planning to be married September 17. Our best wishes to you, Aspen. Send pictures! Alain Laederach (IGERT, PhD BCB and Chem E S2003, Reilly/Andreotti), is still enjoying his postdoc with Russ Altman at Stanford U. You can see his smiling face and check out his latest publications and goofball projects on his website. Keep up the great work (and play), Alain! Brooke Peterson-Burch (IGERT, PhD Genetics S2003, Voytas), is applying his bioinformatics skills at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames. Brooke has been serving as bioinformatics biologist at NADC since February 2003. We're counting on you to help keep our critters healthy, Brooke! Rob Thompson (IGERT, MS Genetics S2001, Carpenter/Ahslock), will start his new position as a public health microbiologist with the U of Iowa Hygienic Lab in August. Check out his recent publications:
