I noticed that this page was getting a little stale and overdue for an update. As of last September or so, all valid holders of a Project Vincent user ID and password are able to come into MBB 0101, sit at the machines, and log on to use the installed software. There is no longer any need to make special arrangements to get a basic account and home directory--your default home directory is your Project Vincent/Acropolis AFS directory.

Those affiliated with the sponsoring departments and programs are eligible to get additional file storage space and to access the machines remotely via ssh. The FAQs have a little more to say about ssh access. If you have further questions after having looked at the FAQs, please direct those questions to bcbsupport@iastate.edu Linux/Unix/Computer Novices, PLEASE NOTE: There are links to "getting started" tutorials in the FAQs.

All BCB majors have remote access privileges. If you are a major, and find that you do not have remote access, send email to bcbsupport@iastate.edu with details on what how you are trying to remotely access the machines.

For more discussion subscribe to the bcblab@iastate.edu.
