Abstract
The number of databases available to a user continues to grow rapidly. A number of these data sources operate through interfaces that allow users to use domain terms. Web-based applications, such as those in biology, are examples. The present work makes use of a domain-based ontology and a semantic data network of the data sources. The resulting model allows users to define their search terms and domain functions to operate on the data. The ontology is used to determine the appropriate data source(s) and the semantic data model controls the process of generating the results.
