Fellowship NSF-IGERT Graduate Fellowships in Computational Molecular Biology
Awards Two-year PhD Fellowships with $30,000 annual stipend with Full Tuition, Fees and Paid Health Insurance. Includes funds for textbooks and scientific journals, computer software and hardware, professional conferences, short courses, internships, travel and related expenses.
Eligibility Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents
Obligation Identify the graduate major you wish to pursue at ISU.
Submit your application materials to the graduate department or program of your choice. You need not submit a separate fellowship application.
Graduate programs nominate top candidates for IGERT fellowships.
 
Fellowship Plant Sciences Institute Fellowships
Awards $25,000 per year for 4 years with Full Tuition and Paid Health Insurance
Eligibility Graduate programs apply on behalf of their candidates.
Obligations Prospective students must express an interest in the scientific study of plant life or in the utilization of plant life.
 
Fellowship USDA National Needs Ph.D. Fellowships in Animal Molecular Biology with an emphasis in Genomics and Bioinformatics
Awards $22,000 per year for 3 years with Full Tuition and Paid Health Insurance
Selection Selected Fellows will participate in 3 to 4 research lab rotations during their first year of graduate study with animal molecular biology faculty. The three areas of molecular biology with emphasis in genomics and bioinformatics (AMBGB) are Animal and Microbial Genomics, Animal Growth and Development and Food Safety and Disease Resistance.
Eligibility Graduate programs apply on behalf of their candidates.
 
Fellowship USDA NATIONAL NEEDS Ph.D. FELLOWSHIPS IN STATISTICAL GENETICS AND GENOMICS
Awards $24,000 per year for 3 years with Full Tuition and Paid Health Insurance
Eligibility U.S. citizens interested in the development and application of quantitative methods and tools for animal genomics. Genetics or Bioinformatics and Computational Biology majors.
Obligations All domestic applicants applying to the BCB program will be considered for award of this fellowship
 
Fellowship Graduate Fellowship Program in Agricultural Biotechnology
Awards $20,000 for one year fellow for U.S. or Permanent Residents; $10,000 for 1/2 year fellow for International Students
Selection Selected Fellows will participate in 3 to 4 research lab rotations during their first year of graduate study
Eligibility Graduate programs apply on behalf of their candidates.
 
Fellowship James Cornette Research Fellowship in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
Award The Cornette Fellowships provide $10,000 six-month research assistantships plus tuition, benefits, and fees.
Eligibility Ph.D. students majoring in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology who have completed at least their first year of graduate training are eligible to apply. Each student is eligible for a maximum of two Cornette Research Fellowships during his or her graduate program. Students must have met their program timeline requirements for academic, course, and training requirements and other required activities. (These requirements will vary for students depending on their program and their year of graduate study.)

Fellowship Pioneer Hi-Bred Graduate Fellowships for current BCB Graduate Students at Iowa State University
Award The L.H. Baker Center Fellowships sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred provide three $21,750 twelve-month research assistantships plus health benefits. The fellowship is for one year only and is not renewable.
Eligibility Applicants should submit a CV, their Professor's CV, and a short 4-page research proposal. In addition they should have three letters of recommendation sent to the address below.

Fellowship DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
Eligibility
  • Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
  • Students must be planning full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D degree at a U.S. university.
  • Students in their first or second year of graduate study in the physical, engineering, computer, mathematical, or life sciences are eligible to apply for the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship. Exceptional senior undergraduates who can meet all the requirements listed here may also apply.
  • Applicants must be either U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.
  • Support of this fellowship is limited to 4 years and must be renewed each year
  • This is an equal opportunity program open to all qualified persons without regard to race, sex, creed, age, physical disability, or national origin
Obligations Program of study to include coursework in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Scientific or engineering discipline
