Iowa State University Bioinformatics Open Day

Open Day Registration

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that combines data science, computation, and biology. It involves the processing and analyzing of large-scale genomic and other biological datasets to develop biological insights. Those include personal healthcare, personal genomics, precision agriculture, drug and vaccine design, understanding the genetic basis of diseases, and molecular evolution are just a few of the broad topics that engage bioinformatics scientists.

If these challenges sound interesting, then the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) at Iowa State University is where you want to be! One of the oldest programs in the nation, we offer research programs in a variety of topics in bioinformatics. The BCB program at Iowa State University spans over 15 academic departments, and with over 70 member faculty we offer a large variety of courses and research projects. Our graduates are successfully working in industry, biomedical firms, national labs, and universities. Bioinformatics is one of the fastest growing occupations, and the Department of Labor projected job the growth for bioinformatics scientists in the US to be 5 to 10 percent.

More information about ISU’s Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Program can be found at https://www.bcb.iastate.edu/

You can always contact us at bcb@iastate.edu and we will help you through the application and decision process.

We are having an open day when you can visit us via Zoom, chat with students and faculty and discover more about the program: Friday, November 20, 10am-1pm US Central Time
